Maternity pay is paid as a lump sum by the employer from the State Social Protection Fund. It is not subject to income tax.
Maternity Benefits in Uzbekistan
In Uzbekistan, maternity leave and benefits are governed by the Labour Code and the Law on State Benefits for Families with Children. An employee is entitled to paid maternity leave regardless of the duration of her employment contract.
The benefit amount directly depends on the official salary: the higher the declared wage, the higher the maternity pay. Employees with partially or fully off-the-books salaries receive benefits only on the officially declared portion.
The childcare benefit up to age 2 is a fixed amount (2 × BRP), independent of salary. It is relatively modest, so many families plan a financial cushion before going on maternity leave.
