What is TCO and why should I calculate it?

TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) is the full cost of owning a car over the entire period. The purchase price is only part of the costs. Over 5 years, fuel, insurance, servicing and parking often exceed the car's purchase price. The calculator shows the real monthly cost accounting for all factors.

How is vehicle depreciation accounted for?

The calculator applies a fixed depreciation percentage from the current value each year. For example, at 15%/year a car worth 200M will cost around 89M after 5 years. The residual value is subtracted from total costs — that is why TCO is calculated net. New cars lose value faster (first 2–3 years up to 20–25%/year), used cars slower.

What fuel consumption should I enter for typical cars?

City cycle: Chevrolet Nexia/Cobalt — 7–9 L/100 km, Spark — 6–7 L, crossovers — 10–13 L. Mixed cycle is usually 1–2 L less than city. At 2,000 km/month, a 1 L/100 km difference saves about 250,000 UZS per year (at 12,500 UZS/L fuel price).

Is comprehensive insurance (KASKO) necessary in Uzbekistan?

KASKO is voluntary, but banks require it for financed vehicles. KASKO costs 2–4% of the car value per year. For a new car worth 200M that is 4–8M UZS/year. After the loan is paid off or for a used car you can manage with mandatory OSAGO only (~500–1,000K UZS/year).

Main levers: 1) Minimise loan interest — put down the maximum deposit or buy with cash. 2) Choose a fuel-efficient car — a 2 L/100 km difference over 5 years at 2,000 km/month saves 1.5M UZS. 3) Keep the car longer — depreciation in the first 3 years is the highest. 4) Garage instead of paid parking.
